About the event
The Wilderness is a sextet based in Kingston, ON that has a massive and mighty sound - a propulsive and potent indie-rock-fusion that has earned them comparisons to Bruce Springsteen, Mumford & Sons, The National, and The Lumineers. Pre-pandemic, The Wilderness was hailed as Indieweek 2019’s Best Emerging Artist, and has been known in Kingston as one of the hardest working bands around. Post-pandemic, the band is continuing to build their fanbase the old fashioned way; by hopping in their tour-van and playing their hearts out wherever they can find a stage.
With an independently released EP to their credit - Seminary Road (2018) and six singles, "If I Have to Die" (2020) “Pick You Up” (2020), “Virginia Sapphire'' (2019), “Fall (Despite What You Do)” (2019), “Dancing In The Dive Bars” (2018), “Hurry Up And Wait” (2018), on Aug. 21, 2020 The Wilderness finally released their long-awaited debut LP Until Tomorrow featuring the singles “Pick You Up”, “If I Have To Die” and “Graveyard” followed by their live EP Live at the Bathouse (Dec. 4, 2020) featuring the new single “Fire and the Wolves”.
In June 2021, the Wilderness hit the studio again to record a new EP expected to be released in Spring 2022 with a new single to be released in March 2022.
Maxwell Jose Band
Walking the line between country and folk, Maxwell José’s songs draw from his experience growing up both in the North, on Lake Superior, as well as in southern Illinois. Anxiety, growing pains, and some good old fashioned storytelling are key elements of his tunes. This is going to be a full band show. Backing him are four of some of Sudbury’s best musicians. They’ll open up the event by sharing a few old songs and a few new ones too!
